  • ‘IF IT WAS ME I WOULD HAVE ACTED QUICKLY’

Former Arsenal man and current Technical Director of Ajax Marc Overmars has hinted that Andre Onana could leave Ajax for next to nothing this summer.

And with the Gunners on the search for a new goalkeeper, Overmars’ words are almost encouraging the Gunners to make a move.

He said: “Of course, in the complex case of Onana, it is quite difficult to determine the correct amount,

“For some clubs, it is also an opportunity to buy this keeper. Because if he is under contract longer and not suspended, he is worth thirty million. If it was me, I would have acted quickly [and tried to sign him].

“If you can wait six months, then he can sign on a free transfer.

“He is a top five goalkeeper in Europe. If you put down all the keepers, he will be in fifth or sixth place.

“I get that clubs are trying to sign him because once his signature is secured, his value skyrockets as he is a very good 25-year-old goalkeeper.”

  • ZEE WHIZ!

Miguel Azeez scored the pick of Arsenal’s goals as they beat Watford 4-1.

The Gunners youngster picked up the ball from a corner and bent a left-footed effort into the far corner to seal the win.

  • KIER BLIMEY

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney showed he is a star at both ends of the pitch as Arsenal beat Watford 4-1 in today’s pre-season friendly.

The Scot popped up after 76 minutes to stab home Emile Smith Rowe’s cross from the right-hand side to make it 3-1.

  • BACK OF THE NKET

Eddie Nketiah set Arsenal on the way to an emphatic 4-1 pre-season win over Watford at Colney this afternoon.

  • HOWLER

Arsenal gifted Watford a goal in today’s 4-1 friendly win over Watford after Mohamed Elneny allowed himself to be dispossessed inside Arsenal’s box, JOE BROPHY reports.

The Egyptian had been attempting to play out from the back after receiving a short pass from Bernd Leno only to be tackled.

Watford managed to keep the ball alive and Philip Zinckernagel was eventually able to slot home the equaliser.

And many Arsenal fans expressed their annoyance at another sloppy error after a goalkeeping howler cost them in a 2-1 defeat to Hibernian.

  • LAUT NOT HAPPENING

Inter Milan’s Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent days.

However according to Football Italia, the 23-year-old would only consider a move to one of Spain’s big three clubs.

Even if a £70million bid is accepted Martinez is unlikely to agree personal terms with the Gunners as he’s only interested in signing for Barcelona, Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

  • NEW NUMBER

Could Gabriel Martinelli be set for a new shirt number at the Gunners.

Martinelli’s number 35 shirt was today worn by Miguel Azeez, perhaps hinting at a change for the 20-year-old Martinelli.

According to football.london, the numbers 8 and 18 are the only senior squad numbers available at this moment in time.

However, current number 11 Lucas Torreira is expected to leave the Gunners this summer, which is thought to be Martinelli’s preferred number.

Should Torreira leave, expect to see Martinelli don the number 11 shirt previously worn by the likes of Marc Overmars, Robin van Persie and Mesut Ozil.
